Five Great Valentine's Date Ideas

Are you seeking fun and out of the ordinary date ideas? Look no more! Here are 5 fantastic and unusual ways to have a memorable Valentine's Day!

If you are outdoorsy types, then this is a great one for you. Go camping! Yes camping. Find a local campground that is open year round and ahead of time pitch your tent. Or if you are one of the lucky ones to have a camper, set it up during the daytime. Be sure of course to pack lots of blankets, firewood, a space heater (be sure it's a safe one and appropriate for inside a tent!) and fuel to run your stove and heater should you have a camper.

In place of candles which are dangerous inside a tent or camper, use a battery operated candle or a camp lantern. Have along steaks to cook, pre cooked baked potatoes that all you have to do is heat them over the fire in foil and whatever else you like for your meals. And of course a bottle of wine!

Book a night or a weekend at a local hotel. (Preferably one that has a spa and indoor pool.) Ahead of time book a massage for the both of you and make your special request for dinner. At most larger fancier hotels, you can specify the meal you want or you can choose from their menu. You will also have your choice to have it in the dining room or brought to your room. It is so important to have these things requested a week or two from the date of arrival so that they are prepared and ready for you. Especially if you have dietary needs such as diabetes or the like.

If you want flowers to be in the room when you arrive as a surprise for your sweetie, that also needs to be done ahead of time. Ask at the hotel front desk if they work with a particular florist or know of one close by, and let them know you will have a delivery coming that is to be in the room. Then arrange with the florist to deliver by a certain date and time. You can pre-pay your tip as well if you like.

Always call the hotel before arriving to see that your preparations were carried out, as you desired. This ensures that you and the hotel staff are not embarrassed!

Not into the fancy hotel idea? If you both love the outdoors and camping is just a bit too much for you to handle in winter (depending on of course where you live!) then how about booking a cabin or room at a lodge?

They also should be able to help set up pre-arrival deliveries of flowers if you want as well as pre-arranging activities for you such as skiing, snowboarding rentals, etc. Whatever your interests are!

And as with the hotel, call ahead of time to be sure your pre-arrangements were carried out!

Can't get away overnight or for a weekend? Then create that getaway at home! While your significant other is not at home, (or you can send them on a long errand!) you can be setting up the dining room for a romantic dinner for two. Cooking it yourself or having a meal delivered is perfectly fine. Don't forget to get the boudoir ready for an evening of romance!

Are the two of you just not into the fru fru gooey romantic ideas? More on the silly and lighthearted side of things? Below is an idea that can add some great humor to the occasion.

Gather in a small basket a table cloth, a vase with a realistic rose in it, 2 taper candles with holders (don't forget a lighter) and a setting for two of dishes, silver and glasses. Go to your favorite fast food restaurant and order what you want, before sitting down, 'set' your table and place your food on the dishes you brought. Pour your drinks into the glasses and light the candles. Sit down and enjoy!

You may draw some attention but it will certainly be a different experience!
