Keeping Valentine's Day Exciting for Married Couples
Are you finding yourself in a rut on Valentine's Day? Do you say "Happy Valentine's Day" in passing as you rush out the door and not another thought about it until on your way home?
Here are some fun and exciting ways to keep the spirit of the holiday alive without driving you crazy!
In this day and age of electronic devices that tell you everything you need to know, set reminders for yourself whether it is on your palm pilot, computer, cell phone or whatever. Set the reminder for the first day of February and every week there after until the big day. Each time your reminder goes off, do something in preparation for that day. Such as make the dinner reservations, purchase that new outfit for going out if that's your plans, or pick up the candles and a pretty tablecloth if you are preparing dinner at home. If you are cooking at home be sure to test run the recipe a few weeks in advance. This way you are not trying out a new meal on that special evening.
If you have children be sure to plan far in advance for them. Will you need a sitter at home so you can go out? If you want a childfree evening at home you will need someone willing to take them overnight. If your children are young and do not spend much time away from you it would be best to let them stay overnight at that persons home a couple times before the big night. The last thing you need is your children crying with the sitter all evening and you maybe having to interrupt your plans.
If you are ordering a gift for your sweetie online, be sure to do it far in advance in case there are shipping problems or it comes in the wrong size or broken. Have it delivered to a friend's house or your workplace if allowed. Should you be shopping locally be sure to do it far in advance as well so that what you want and the right size if applicable, is still in stock. That way if it needs to be special ordered it will arrive in time. Major department stores will usually wrap gifts for you for a small fee.
Some unusual gifts could be a singing telegram. Some larger florist shops know of or provide this service. If your significant others' workplace will allow it, have the singing telegram done there. You can sneak in and watch secretly or be there as it is delivered.
Hand crafting a card for your honey will be very appreciated. You can find greeting card kits for your computer or if you are crafty, ones you do by hand. Here are some great verses for your card that are not your typical "Roses are Red".
