Quick Valentine Necklace Craft

Necklaces are a fun craft for a group of kids no matter what the occasion. For a valentine craft, necklaces can be made from a variety of materials, but the teacher should provide some large heart shaped beads to include in the choices. Twine makes a good choice for stringing material, especially if boys are in the class. Shoe laces work, too. Of course, the boys might want to give their crafted necklaces to a special girl.

Other materials that are fun for kids to string include fruit cereal, macaroni, short pieces of drinking straws, and of course, beads of all types. For Valentine's Day, choose materials in red, pink, and white. Encourage kids to make interesting patterns in the beads and other materials they string.

Stringing materials in sequence will make a prettier necklace and also serve as an exercise in thinking and early math skills. This project is suitable for children up to age seven.
