Valentine's Roses: Interesting Facts

Over 110 million roses are sold for every Valentine's Day, and the majority of them are red. Red roses are said to symbolize passionate love.

The bulk of the roses purchased in the U.S. for Valentine's Day are imported from South America. Those roses that are domestically produced predominantly come for California.

Not all of these roses, however, come from people trying to please their sweetheart. Interestingly, approximately three percent of U.S. women will buy roses for themselves on Valentine's Day.
